This is the Hotel Deli (not actually IN the White Swan though) that we have been to many times for lunch, snacks, and desserts.
We went to the Pearl Market in LiWan Plaza (a HUGE mall)- we shopped at MeiHua Pearls- they were cleaning some of the pearls in a big vibrating bucket (see right) filled with some sort of seed, chaff, or hulls...
Look! I'm in China!!! So Is Mutti!!!
After the Pearl Market, we went back to Shamian Island with Maggie, our guide, who helped us make the 20 minute walk back... We wanted to go to a Cantonese restaurant so Maggie wrote us a menu to take to JM Chef... when you walk in, this is what you see: tanks of lobsters, fish, and trays of sandworms, water beetles, and other delicacies...
We had none of that however, and stuck to sizzlin beef, black pepper beef, fried tofu, some amazing broccoli, and noodles. Everything was delicious, and we drank Jasmine tea to boot!
Thursday morning we headed to the Guangzhou zoo, where the batteries of my camera promptly decided to fade out... I did get a few pics though (baboon, and Panda!)
